The School of Continuing Education (SCE) at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee is looking for two hands-on, energetic, organized, and detail oriented individuals to join a team of professionals in a dynamic, fast-paced, educational environment working with the Business, Management, Engineering and Technology program units. SCE, an educational destination of choice for ages “4-94”, delivers educational opportunities via traditional classroom interaction, online and blended instruction, and offers customized training onsite at locations throughout the city, region, and country. The business and engineering program units offer educational seminars for professional development through short courses, workshops, and certificate programs in Engineering, Sustainability, Project Management, Information Technology, Labor Relations, Human Resources, and Leadership and Management Development and more.
These two positions will work in a team environment functioning as program coordinators assisting in the planning, development, delivery, logistics, administration, and evaluation of programs. The Associate Outreach Specialists will assist the program director and business development manager with day-to –day operations of the program areas, including the scheduling of classes and instructional staff, promotion and publicity tasks, writing and editing marketing copy and related tasks.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
· Schedule activities related to training programs.
· Assist with marketing activities – defining lists, maintain “go to” lists, proofing and editing copy.
· Manage instructor relationships – assisting with scheduling, travel arrangements, material coordination, contracting activities, and classroom preparation.
· Manage participant relationships – answer curriculum based questions from students, start-up programs/introduce instructors, resolve participant disputes, and seek opportunities to interact.
· Monitor enrollments and use data to identify strategic marketing needs/opportunities.
· Manage customized training logistics – classroom location, delivery of materials, and communication with participants.
· Direct the program activities with the program administrators and students – preparing materials and support activities.
· Attend training sessions when necessary as a UWM representative.
· Assist in the development of program budgets and program fees.
· Evaluate the current program activity.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree required.
· Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills are necessary for communicating and building relationships with instructors, program participants and staff.
· Strong organizational skills as well as the ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities are also required.
· Ability to problem-solve and implement solutions that foster the mission of SCE is required.
· Proficiency in using computers and Microsoft Office Suite software is required.
· Experience in the development, design, and implementation of educational training and program planning preferred.
· Experience in marketing, promoting, and publicity of training and educational programs preferred.
· Evaluation or assessment experience preferred.
· Familiarity with program topics in one or more of the unit program areas (Business, Management, Engineering, Technology) preferred.
· Knowledge of budgets and budget reconciliation preferred.
· Prior experience in a team environment preferred.
SALARY: Hiring range 3, $35,358- $44,197, midpoint, based on qualifications and experience. This position has excellent fringe benefits including four weeks annual vacation.
TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: This is a full-time, fixed-term academic staff position, renewable annually.
