Job Title: Neighborhood Director | |
| Reports To: | Neighborhood Board in cooperation with Neighborhood Outreach Program Director |
| Status: | Exempt |
| Function: | Work with the Neighborhood Outreach Board to build congregational ownership and community support and develop a strong volunteer corps committed to “linking older adults with a caring community.” |
| Duties: | Build Community Support (35%)Develop and maintain strong relationships with the Neighborhood Board, Congregations and Community Organizations (25%) Carry out fundraising activities to meet fundraising goals as determined in collaboration with the Neighborhood Board (10%)Meet Needs of Neighborhood’s Frail Elders (65%) Recruit, train, place and support volunteers willing to provide informal assistance to elders requesting/needing assistance (30%) Identify, assess, advocate for and consult with elders requesting/needing assistance (25%) Manage the Outreach office including staff, keeping accurate and current records as required for the program. (10%)Perform other duties as assigned. (Duties will be prioritized by the Neighborhood Director and the Neighborhood Board based upon hours available and needs of the community.) |
| Qualifications: | Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred and/or equivalent experience Experience recruiting and supervising volunteers; Evidence of personal volunteer history highly desirable Demonstrated leadership experience, administrative skills and supervisory ability Understanding of and appreciation for the role, value and dynamics of religious institutions and congregations Computer literacy including data entry and Microsoft Office required Ability to take on fundraising activities with volunteers Experience working with older adults. Knowledge of community resources and ability to access them Availability of an auto, possession of a valid driver’s license and minimum required insurance Ability to communicate both orally and in written form with staff, community and funding sources Openness to working with persons of diverse cultures physically challenged persons and older adults An understanding of the mission and goals of Interfaith |
